A recent customer adaptation, and one of our most requested – adding velcro to a button up shirt. This simple adaptation helps with ease of dressing, and outwardly looks totally unchanged.
As research shows, the clothes we wear can have a huge impact on how we feel about ourselves and here at Dressability we aim to offer our clients the freedom to choose clothes and adaptations that bring out the best in them.
This month saw Sharon Tombs, Manager of Dressability, sail off for a well-earned rest!
However, Dressability was never far from her thoughts and now back, refreshed from her travels and raring to go, Sharon returned to find her team of amazing volunteers busy making Christmas stockings in a drive to sell these beautiful items for extra funding for Dressability.
These Christmas stockings will be on sale for anyone wishing to give a very unique gift this year from next week onwards.

Our lovely Sharon Tombs went to visit Councillor Mary Champion this week to talk through Dressability’s outreach programme and to see how we can best offer this service to the community at Royal Wootton Bassett.

Dressability have set up sewing classes, 2 hours a week, for the ladies sheltering from harm under the care of the Medaille Trust.
The Medaille Trust exists to provide refuge and freedom to victims of modern slavery – supporting them as they rebuild their lives. They are one of the largest providers of supported safe house beds for victims of modern slavery in the UK.
Dressability is helping residents living at the Swindon Medaille Trust safe house to gain skills in sewing, which will equip them to utilise these skills in their future lives. You never know, there may be budding future dress designers in the making!

When our client and friend of Dressability asked if we could make a ‘Rock ‘n’ Roll’ outfit for a forthcoming event he and his wife are attending (watch this space), we were only too happy to help. Our ‘Dressability Make A Wish’ volunteers, Anne (middle) and Edie (right), as pictured, set to creating a themed outfit for the couple.
Alongside these busy volunteers, our very own seamstress Angela (left) was working on our core activity of alterations, adapting trousers for one of our clients.
