Join Our Dressmaking Team: Dressability is Recruiting

Dressability is growing, and we are excited to be looking for two new members to join our friendly team in West Swindon.

We currently have opportunities for both an experienced Dressmaker and a Trainee Dressmaker, helping us continue to provide our specialist clothing adaptation service to people with disabilities and limited mobility.

Every alteration we make at Dressability has a purpose. From adapting clothing for wheelchair users to developing bespoke solutions for people living with a wide range of disabilities and medical conditions, our work helps people to live more independently, comfortably and with greater confidence.

No two days are quite the same. Our dressmakers work with each client to understand their individual needs before finding practical and often creative ways to adapt their clothing while retaining its original appearance wherever possible.

We are currently recruiting for:

Dressmaker

We are looking for an experienced dressmaker to bring their sewing skills to Dressability and become part of the team delivering our specialist clothing adaptation service.

And if the roles aren’t for you but you know somebody who could be the perfect fit, please help us spread the word. You could help us find the next member of the Dressability team.

Connecting with Our Community: Visiting Live Well Swindon

The Dressability team recently had the pleasure of visiting the Live Well Swindon Project, run by Swindon Borough Council, to learn more about the support available to people across our local community.

Live Well Swindon helps people improve their health, wellbeing and independence by connecting them with the right support, activities and local services.

It was a great opportunity for us to learn more about the work of the Live Well Swindon team, the people they support and the many different ways they help residents across Swindon.

We were also pleased to share more about the work we do at Dressability and how our specialist clothing adaptation service can help people maintain their independence, comfort and confidence.

For someone living with a disability, reduced mobility or limited dexterity, seemingly simple features of everyday clothing can sometimes present a real challenge. Our team works with each person individually to find practical solutions, from adapting fastenings and altering garments for wheelchair users to accommodating medical equipment and other individual requirements.

Building relationships with other local organisations and services such as Live Well Swindon is incredibly valuable. By understanding more about the support available across our community, we can help ensure people are connected with the services that could make a difference to their everyday lives.

A big thank you to the Live Well Swindon team for such a warm welcome. It was a pleasure to meet everyone, and we look forward to keeping in touch.

If you or someone you know could benefit from Dressability’s clothing adaptation service, please contact us on 01793 512878 or email dressmaking@dressability.org.uk to find out how we can help.
