Paralysed from the chest down, Danny found it very difficult to transfer safely from his wheelchair to a shower seat – and as a consequence of his anxiety re the risk of falling, his showering routine had become a “nerve wracking and dangerous” experience.
Danny was determined to find strategies to overcome the range of new obstacles he found himself encountering as a person with disabilities, and approached the team at Dressability to discuss whether a remedy to his difficulty showering could be found.
Enabling Danny to shower without need to transfer from his wheelchair was identified as the best solution – and following a process of research during which several prototypes were designed and developed, a cape was made to cover his wheelchair – allowing him to shower in comfort and safety, whilst the chair remained dry.
“I can’t tell you how something so simple has helped me so much” said Danny summing up the “helpful and approachable” service he received from Dressability with “a big thank you to everyone involved”.
