Privacy Gowns Donated to Radiotherapy Patients

Dressability have been busy making gowns for radiotherapy patients for the Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust.

These gowns were well received by the team at Maidstone Hospital who provided some great feedback.

“The quality of the gowns is outstanding and we genuinely appreciate the time, effort and care that has gone into making each one. These will make a real difference to our patients, offering them comfort and dignity during their treatment”.

As with all good causes, we were so pleased to help and hear how our work makes such a difference to those in need.

Debranded Coats Keep the Homeless Warm

Dressability teamed up with our good friends at Swindon Lions Club in order to provide debranded coats to the homeless.

The coats were delivered to BOSH (Bristol Outreach Services for the Homeless) by Andi of Swindon Lions. These could then be distributed quickly to those who need them most.

Debranding the coats prevents them from being sold on and encourages their continued use.

We love working on projects such as this to ensure we are working sustainably and responsibly.

Amazing Generosity from Ashton Keynes Women’s Institute

Dressability were absolutely delighted to accept a £750 donation from the Ashton Keynes Women’s Institute.

This money was raised from selling teas and coffees throughout the year, with members donating their time in order to make an impact within the community.

We are so grateful, as the donation enables us to keep helping others through our services.

Thank you to everyone who enabled this donation, from everyone at Dressability.

Prospect Hospice Aprons

Our volunteer group went to Prospect Hospice to deliver green aprons made by Dressability volunteers.

Prospect Hospice is vital to the Swindon community, and it’s a privilege to be able to support the important work they do as a fellow local charity.

We always love to champion the message of support to your local charities!

Nicky & Sharon go to Swindon Sense

Dressability’s Nicky (pictured) and Sharon went to Swindon Sense this week with a donation of clothing.

We’re always looking for donations of new, unworn clothing for our projects, and if we can’t use them ourselves, then we always donate them forward.

This is part of our zero waste objective and our focus on sustainability.

We hope that all of the clothing that we see, finds a home regardless of whether it’s been altered or not.

School Uniform Adaptations and Alterations

Uniform adaptations can have a massive impact on a student’s quality of life and their ability to play, learn, and feel included, giving them the chance to feel comfortable, confident, and able to focus on their studies.

As a charity, our funding allows us to alter and adapt garments at a subsidised and affordable cost.

Our alterations are tailored to each student’s needs, including;

– Replacing buttons with Velcro or magnets.

– Creating back or side openings to make dressing easier.

– Creating collar openings to aid dressing.

– Altering arm lengths and taking up trousers to fit the wearer.

– Adding waterproof layers.

– Creating openings for feeding tubes and other medical equipment.

– Altering school ties to clip-ons or elastic.

– And more…
